Breaking Addiction

How To Choose What's Best For You

People need different kinds of support in order to break their addictions. Some people feel more support in self-help groups or twelve-step programs because they are meeting others who are in the same situation. Others need individual attention because they don't feel comfortable discussing their personal life in a group. Some teens may feel that an adult cannot understand what they're going through; instead, they might meet with a peer counselor.

Some people believe that just talking to friends will help them kick their drug addiction. But a friend may not have the resources or experience to provide you with the best advice. A professional can help you deal with the problems that are making you turn to drugs.
