The 'Gift' of DyslexiaHelp Yourself

Many people can help you cope with dyslexia. But no one can help until you first decide to help yourself. If you have a reading problem, don't deny it. Don't pretend it will go away by itself. Instead, accept that you need help. Start by getting yourself tested.

If you have dyslexia, you can deal with it. It is a challenge, but one that can be handled successfully.

So if dyslexia is making you feel discouraged, remember that with continued effort, success is right around the corner. Thomas Edison, the inventor of the electric light bulb and a famous dyslexic, made about 1,000 light bulbs before creating one that actually worked. A reporter once asked him how it felt to fail 1,000 times. Edison replied, “I didn't fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.”
