Family MattersDiscovering Hidden Talents

Our son Dennis was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADD when he was in third grade. While he had difficulty sitting still and learning to read, write, and spell, he was blessed. Like other people with learning differences, his brain had pockets of amazing creativity, energy, insightfulness, and determination. Once we understood what was going on in his head and realized that he was not “slow,” we figured out all sorts of ways to cope with his learning and attention problems. He developed a passion for playing music. Now he plays fourteen instruments! After attending col lege, he built a career performing and selling his music. Dennis still can't sit still and rarely reads for pleasure. However, his hard work, energy, and creativity have added up to a great life!
