Phobias

Managing Fear and Phobias on Your OwnA Word Of Warning

If you decide to try to manage your phobia yourself, pay careful attention to your physical and mental health. If you are experiencing very powerful, persistent anxiety, seek professional help. This is especially important if the anxiety has worsened since you have begun working on your phobia.

If, at any point, you feel as though your anxiety is becoming unmanageable, ask for help. If your physical symptoms are severe, get help immediately. In a medical emergency, you can call 911 for assistance. The Where to Go for Help section in the back of this book also lists crisis lines that you can call to speak to a trained mental health professional at any time, day or night.
