Choosing to Quit
Recovery Programs
If you are committed to quitting and have taken the first steps to recovery, you can stay off drugs. It's important to remember, however, that hospitalization alone is not enough. An addict also needs a recovery program. Groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous offer some spiritual support. Their programs give patients tools for recovery, but are effective only for some addicts. Participants learn new types of behavior and receive support from others who have had similar experiences.
