The Effects of Depressants
Denial
One of the main psychological problems experienced by a drug abuser is denial. Denial is the act of unconsciously ignoring a problem in order to avoid dealing with it.
Addicts are often in a state of denial. When an addict is in denial, he or she insists that his or her drug use is under control. An addict's family may also be in denial because they refuse to believe their loved one has a problem. With treatment, an addict and his or her family can come to accept the problem and work to overcome it.
